"I grew up in a family that was proud of the region they grew up in, the mountains/foothills of North Carolina. My family would make frequent trips to the mountains. We would visit many places in Avery county including my paternal grandparents childhood homes. My maternal grandparents would take me and my sister for drives on the Blue Ridge Parkway where we would hike under the Line Cove Viaduct and picnic in one of the overlook areas. My parents took us on many family trips to explore the Linville area, Grandfather Mountain, and so many other wonderful places.
These trips represented family and home. Driving the curvy mountain roads, smelling the rhododendron in bloom, feeling the breeze on my cheeks as I look out at a landscape so perfectly beautiful. There is no where else I belong. I am truly at peace in the mountains of North Carolina. I strive to reflect the beauty and peace that I find in the mountains I call home."
