I love painting!
I really do love it, but I am not a painter.
I took an oil painting class in college and I learned so much about color, composition, lighting, shadows, and patience. I created some pretty good paintings in that class. I could have kept painting. I could have developed my technique and probably made some really great pieces of art. But I choose to lay down my paint brush.
Why?
Painting is messy.
Oil paint and the other supplies you use with it are stinky.
I didn't have a space where I felt comfortable using oil paint.
I didn't want to use acrylic paint instead.
Everyone paints or wants to paint. I don't want to be like everyone else.
I love colored pencil and after a very real struggle with ink I fell in love with it too. Which led me to combining the two for my artwork. I also incorporated watercolor and tea into my work. I developed a style that I feel represents me in a way that painting never could. I found media that challenges me and make me think outside the box to bring them together in a way that tells my story.
I look forward to sharing that story with you through my art.
Thank you for your support.
