Collection: Tiny and Exceptional Pollinators

Hummingbirds are among the smallest birds in the world. They are exceptional flyers. They don't just fly forward, they can hover as well as fly backwards and upside down.

They are also very important pollinators. They spend all day eating nectar from a variety of flowers while spreading pollen as they go.

There are at least 350 species found in North and South America.

This collection of hand drawn hummingbirds is meant to reflect these magnificent little birds beauty and their importance to our ecosystem.

Hummingbirds have been some of my favorite birds since I was a young girl and my family had to rescue them from our garage. For whatever reason, they would fly into our garage. The sweet little things would exhaust themselves trying to find a way out. My mom would take our broom and my pointy black witches hat. She would let them land on the broom and gently cover them with the hat to take them back outside.

The hummingbirds are drawn in colored pencil, hand cut, and pasted onto a watercolor background.
